When Clara answers a call, it collects information from the caller on your behalf. Here’s how that data is handled.
What callers are told
At the start of each call, callers are informed that the call is being handled by an AI assistant and that their details will be shared with your business. This ensures transparency and compliance with data protection regulations.
What data is collected
Clara collects:
- The caller’s phone number (from caller ID)
- Their name, location, and enquiry details (from the conversation)
- A recording and transcript of the call
Who owns the data?
You do. Clara processes caller data on your behalf as a data processor. You are the data controller and are responsible for how you use that data.
Caller rights
Under GDPR, callers have the right to:
- Request a copy of their data
- Ask for their data to be deleted
- Object to their data being processed
If a caller makes such a request, you should handle it in line with your own privacy policy. Clara can help you delete specific call records if needed.
Opting out of call recording
If you’d prefer not to record calls, you can disable recordings in Settings → Privacy → Call Recording. Transcripts and summaries will still be generated from the live conversation.
