Auto text follow-ups let Clara send a text message to a caller automatically once a call ends. You choose the message, and Clara sends it without any action from you.
How it works
When a call with Clara finishes, Clara sends the caller an SMS based on the follow-up you’ve set up. The message goes out within a few seconds of the call ending and is sent to every caller Clara speaks to from that point on.
You set this up once. There’s nothing to send manually each time.
Follow-up types
There are four types of follow-up to choose from:
- Thanks for calling: a short acknowledgement sent after the call.
- Book an appointment: sends a booking link so the caller can schedule a time.
- Payment link: sends a payment link, useful for returning customers or follow-up jobs.
- Custom message: your own message and, optionally, your own link.
How to set it up
- Open the Clara app
- Tap the Receptionist tab (bottom right)
- Scroll to Follow-ups and tap the + button
- Choose a follow-up type
- If you chose Custom message, add your instructions and, optionally, a link
- Tap Save
Once saved, the follow-up is active and Clara will start sending it after calls.
Adding a link
For Book an appointment, Payment link, and Custom message, you can include a URL. Paste the full link into the Your link field so Clara can include it in the text.
For Custom message, use the Your instructions field to describe when the message should be sent and who it should go to. You can tap Receive Preview Text to send yourself a sample before saving.
Editing or removing a follow-up
To change a follow-up, open Receptionist → Follow-ups and tap the one you want to edit. To remove it, tap the bin icon next to it.
