If Clara is answering your calls and you want to turn that off, this article will help you fix it in a few minutes.
Why is Clara picking up your calls?
When you set up Clara, your phone was configured to forward calls to Clara’s number. Clara can’t answer your calls without that forwarding, so to stop it, you just need to turn the forwarding off.
How did you set it up?
Jump to the option that matches how you got started:
I used the Clara app to set it up (most common)
Try the in-app button first:
- Open Clara → Settings
- Tap Call Handling → Call Forwarding
- Tap Disable Call Forwarding
- Your phone’s dialer will open and dial the code automatically
- Return to Clara and tap Done
If that doesn’t work, dial your carrier’s code directly:
Open your phone’s native dialer (not the Clara app), dial the code for your carrier, and press Call.

I turned it on manually in my phone settings
Go back to the same place in your phone settings where you switched it on.
On iPhone:
- Open Settings → Phone → Call Forwarding
- Toggle it off
On Android:
- Open your Phone app → Settings
- Tap Supplementary Services or Calling Accounts
- Tap Call Forwarding → Always Forward
- Turn it off
I use a VoIP or virtual number (Google Voice, RingCentral, OpenPhone, etc.)
VoIP numbers are managed inside their own app or dashboard. Your phone settings won’t affect them.
- Open your VoIP provider’s app or web dashboard
- Find Call Forwarding or Forwarding Rules in the settings
- Remove or disable forwarding to your Clara number
Google Voice users: Go to voice.google.com → Settings → Calls → Linked numbers, find your Clara number, and click Remove.
Still getting forwarded?
If calls are still going to Clara after following the steps above, contact your carrier’s support team directly. Only your carrier can fully reset call forwarding on their end.
